Spring 2010 New York Fashion Week Trends: Hesitant About… Slashing

Slashing
Edward Scissorhands
was a fab movie but I would never let Johnny Depp’s character near my closet. And I wish designers didn’t invite him to their studios to slash everything in site.

Spring 2010 New York Fashion Week Trends: Excited For… Cut-Out Sides

Spring 2010 New York Fashion Week Trends Cut-Out Sides

Cut-Out Sides
A cut-out midsection is the perfect option for those who want to show off the result of their daily Pilates classes. A crop top is too ’90s. But this trend shows just enough skin to be sexy but still age appropriate.

Spring 2010 New York Fashion Week Trends: Still Loving… Sheer Yoke Dresses

New York Fashion Week Spring 2010 Trend: Sheer Yoke Dresses

Sheer Yoke Dresses
I really need to go to American Apparel and buy one of their Sweetheart Two-Toned Mini Dresses ($46). I was resisting for a while after seeing so many girls in Los Angeles pairing them with booties but the trend isn’t going anywhere and I’m obsessed with the cobalt/navy version. Maybe I can convince my Forever21Report partner to take a trip with me down to American Apparel’s warehouse to see if I can get the dress with a discount.

Fall 2009 NY Fashion Week Trends: Hesitant About… Thigh High Boots

hip-high-bootsOK, I’ll admit the Nicholas Kirkwood hip high boots at Rodarte were fierce. But personally, it’s hard for me to see a woman in real life wearing boots that high without thinking of Pretty Woman—pre-Julia Roberts’ ladylike makeover.

Fall 2009 NY Fashion Week Trends: Still Loving… Sheer

sheerSheer is so much sexier than bare. The thin material means they can look, but can’t touch. And if you’re worried about something being too sheer, layer or try just a sheer sleeve like the amazing blazer at Doo. Ri.

Fall 2009 NY Fashion Week Trends: Still Loving… Painterly Prints

painterly-printsPerhaps it’s because I paint in my spare time, but I adore all the artistic prints that designers have been showing whether it’s watercolor, graphic or even splattered.
