ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Dress L’Orange
Around this time last year, I received this inexpensive dress from a photo shoot I did with Kmart. On ThinkThruFashion, I showed how you can wear the dress six different ways. Today, I did a modified version of Look #3, which is my favorite—and the favorite of almost everyone who voted.

After having my hair and makeup done, getting dressed was a breeze. It was a cold rainy night so I wanted to stay warm. I turned my Missoni sweater into a dress with Twisted Silver’s necklace worn as a belt and a couple of strips of my trusty Bristol 6 Stylin’ Tape. The green and gold stripes looked beautiful with my makeup that I’m just praying I can recreate.
Speaking of beautiful, I went with my equally beautifully made up mom to Moët & Chandon’s Tom Munro exhibit. The photographer was releasing his book and proceeds went to help Malawi. The photos of the A-list actors were truly remarkable but my first pick was hands-down Kate Winslet. It took my breath away.
After some bubbly, my mom and I dined at my absolute fave restaurant in LA, Matsuhisa. So delish.

I ordered this skirt online after lusting over the brocade shown at Milan Fashion Week. It’s just short enough that I can wear it to work with tights, and then clip into more brocade and sit on a leopard shoe chair before going with my friends to Playhouse on a Friday night.

Its freezing outside by LA standards so I piled on the knits this morning. It just so happened that my dress matched the cardigan Jen (who takes most of my pics) was wearing and my blooming roses.
Fave part of my outfit? My new Np2 nail polish in Symmetric. Online it says it’s a light gray, but on me it looks more like a mix between lavender and taupe, which are both big colors for spring.
Least fave part? My tights. The Forever 21 pair I had on yesterday were incredibly comfy but these ribbed ones have zero stretch and aren’t even warm. That store can be so inconsistent.

The minute I walked over to my friend Jen’s desk this morning she said, “You look very ’60s today.” And coming from her that’s a compliment (She loves vintage). I was a fan of the outfit I put together, too. But it was driving me crazy why it looked so familiar. By lunchtime I finally figured it out. I must have been inspired by Velma from Scooby Doo when I got dressed this morning.
But Velma didn’t have a magical accessory. After eating chocolate and brownies in the afternoon my Twisted Silver belt got incredibly tight. Luckily, it’s actually a necklace!
And yes, I know the last pic is a little silly but I had to include for Jen. We were trying to think of “60s poses.” I obviously need to brush up on my Twiggy.

I’m not really a scarf person. I’ll use them for functional purposes in colder weather and I have a leopard silk scarf that I’ll occasionally wear as a skirt. But this morning, I was staring at my reflection in the mirror and thought something was missing. I had the whole feminine/masculine contrast going on with a silk blouse and pinstripe vest. And a Twisted Silver necklace, which sadly didn’t turn out in pictures (I’ll have to take more later), provided a slightly rugged element.
All of a sudden, I had a fashion epiphany. I took out one of my grandmother’s scarves and added a much needed pop of color to my neutral outfit. I continued the tribute to grandma with her diamond and gold ring. How cool is this piece of jewelry?
