ttF Faves: Little Black Dress Experiment Tours America

When I began the ttF Fashion Staples Series back in January, one of my many inspirations was the Society Stylist’s Little Black Dress experiment. August marks the one year anniversary of the month-long LBD journey so blogger Valerie Elizabeth decided to take the concept around the country. I was one of 31 bloggers asked to participate in the Little Black Dress Experiment Tours America.

Since I was the third blogger to post, I only had one day to figure out how to style my Ann Taylor dress. I spent over an hour in my closet on Friday night and came up with six different options. I couldn’t decide how I wanted to portray my style: 1) Girlie 2) Glam 3) Flirty 4) Professional 5) Sexy or 6) Casual. That’s the beauty of Twitter. I let my followers decide!

After TwitPic-ing the six options, number 2 came out the winner. It was one of my faves, too. I felt it represented my city since it was inspired by the leggy looks of one of Hollywood’s A-listers, Cameron Diaz.

I wanted to keep it sophisticated so I stuck to minimal accessories, which each made a bold statement: a decadent pair of Manolo Blahnik gold heels (brocade is very in for fall), a glam lia sophia cuff and a sparkling LOFT belt, which is actually a necklace!

My friend Kristian Damboulev is an awesome photographer. He took me up in the hills with Jamie Stone, who helped me pin the dress (there was no time to take it to a tailor to shorten). I love the contrast of the gold with the dirt and the whole city in the background without a cloud in the sky. It’s very Hollywood.

ttF Faves: Blue Angel Vodka

Blue Angel Vodka was nice enough to sponsor the ThinkThruFashion Accessory Swap Soiree. While I was partial to the vodka margaritas, the majority of guests were crazy about the brand’s signature drink: the Blue Bam. Luckily for them, it’s super easy to recreated. Here’s the recipe. Cheers!

Blue BAM
3 oz. Blue Angel Vodka
Dash Blue Angel Curacao

In a shaker combine vodka and curacao together with several ice cubes. Shake vigorously, then strain into chilled martini glass. Garnish with an orange or lemon twist.

ThinkThruFashion’s ttF Fashion Staples Series is all about mixing and matching items to make the most out of your wardrobe. So when I saw that Teen Vogue was doing a contest based around the same concept I had to apply.

I chose a look from last month’s staples. What do you guys think?

ttF Faves: Boys Who Sparkle Twilight Eclipse Tees

Are you Team Edward or Team Jacob? I’m definitely Team Edward, which I why I adore these Hello Kitty Dazzle tees by Mighty Fine ($22). If you prefer werewolves over boys who sparkle, they have a Hello Kitty Imprint version, too ($26).

Don’t forget to tune into E! Online tonight. I’ll be co-hosting the live stream of the Eclipse premiere! If you want to know anything from the premiere include @redcarpet and @sydnesummer in your tweets. See you later! xo

*Just a note: Mighty Fine’s tees have no affiliate with the Twilight franchise.

ttF Faves: What I Wore’s Safari Chic Style Challenge

I was thrilled when I saw the theme of Jessica Schroeder’s latest What We Wore Style Challenge: Safari Chic! It could not have a been a more perfect fit for this month’s animal-themed ttF Fashion Staples. I figured most people would go with olives and khaki so I chose to send in my Paper Bag Writer outfit to switch things up a bit with pink silk. Everyone had such great style! It’s always fun to see how people interpret a trend in so many different ways.
