ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Day in Court
Best day ever. I recently got pulled over for running a red light. I didn’t really think I ran the red light so I went to court (i.e. the basic black and white outfit). The cop showed up, so I figured I was out of luck. But miraculously, he decided to tell the judge to dismiss my case. I still don’t know why but I am beyond thankful. In California, a red light ticket can cost you over $400. To celebrate, I met my friend Kinya for happy hour downtown at Ciudad. The tacos and Sangria were the perfect ending to my extremely lucky day.

The minute I walked over to my friend Jen’s desk this morning she said, “You look very ’60s today.” And coming from her that’s a compliment (She loves vintage). I was a fan of the outfit I put together, too. But it was driving me crazy why it looked so familiar. By lunchtime I finally figured it out. I must have been inspired by Velma from Scooby Doo when I got dressed this morning.

But Velma didn’t have a magical accessory. After eating chocolate and brownies in the afternoon my Twisted Silver belt got incredibly tight. Luckily, it’s actually a necklace!

And yes, I know the last pic is a little silly but I had to include for Jen. We were trying to think of “60s poses.” I obviously need to brush up on my Twiggy.

One Striped Pleasure Doing Business Skirt, 8 Different Looks

Pleasure Doing Business Skirt Worn Different Ways by CelebritiesKristin Cavallari stepped out in a Pleasure Doing Business 4 Band Stripe Skirt ($99) this week in New York (#7).  I would have liked her look but the stripes don’t require a belt.

I prefer bandage style skirts worn with a top tucked in, as Rihanna (#2) and Rashida Jones (#6) did with their Pleasure Doing Business 3 Band ($110) version earlier this year.

While black and white is a classic, adding a pop of color like the Teen Vogue model at Fashion’s Night Out (#8) can be fun. Just don’t add pink with your bra like Rihanna (#5).

Fourth of July Cupcakes Inspired Michael Kors

July 4th Cupcakes Inspired by Michael Kors

Cooking and baking don’t come easily to me. That’s why I have to make up for my oven troubles with my decorating skills. I made these Fourth of July cupcakes last night for my Patriotic Potluck Party. I picked up Pilsbury Funfetti cake mix and frosting, red food coloring and blue cake decorating gel at the supermarket. Taking inspiration from Michael Kors‘ red, white and blue spring collection, I turned the cupcakes from average to so festive that people didn’t even notice they came from a box.

ttF Daily Fave: Corey Lynn Calter Caranday Dress

Corey Lynn Calter Caranday Dress I stopped in Anthropologie this weekend to help a friend look for pillows and spotted this Corey Lynn Calter Caranday Dress ($178). I picture it with ballet flats and minimal jewelry for a feminine French look. I didn’t have time to try it on so unfortunately, I don’t know how it fits. But the banded waist and full skirt makes me confident that it should be flattering. The stripes would have been adorable for July 4th weekend. C’est la vie.
