I’m a big fan of mixing prints so I was immediately drawn to Style&co. Petite Mixed-Print Halter Maxi Dress
($79). It’s like a Pierre Deux tablecloth cut into a flattering halter shape. Though the pattern is very Provençal, the red, white and blue color scheme makes it a perfect dress to wear to a Fourth of July barbeque. And it’s petite—so if you’re a shortie like me you shouldn’t need to spend that extra $10 at the tailor.
Cerulean’s French Country Flounce Dress ($165) also has a Provençal feel with its paisley and floral stripes. I also love the ‘50s silhouette of NINE WEST DRESS Sleeveless Floral Dress with Banded Hem
($134 $99). It shows off your waist, you can wear a bra and the A-line skirt hides your hips. And leave it to Forever 21 to do the look for a whole lot less with the strapless Dainty Flower Maxi Dress ($22.80).
I bought this American Apparel Too-Short tube dress ($26) before my 80s party. I was on vacation in Miami and where else but South Beach can you wear something tight and neon? I went all out and even paired it with Guess’ hot pink Innocent platforms ($110), which were surprisingly extremely comfortable.
But away from the beach, I’d feel too naked in this dress. So for cold weather, I’ve covered up with opaque tights. I had to wear a strapless camisole underneath because the dress is a little see-through. When it gets warmer, I’ll wear the dress as a skirt over Spanx—again, there’s that transparency issue. I adore neon and nude together so I’m really looking forward to wearing this outfit.
