A Search for the Longest Lasting Lip Color

A Search for the Longest Lasting Lip ColorAfter dying my hair dark brown, I found that I needed to wear more makeup than I did with lighter highlights. Since I’m usually rushed in the mornings, I figured a bright lip would be my best bet. I decided to test three different products in order to find the longest lasting lip color: Stila Cherry Crush Lip and CheekStain ($24), CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain in Plum Pout ($8.99) and Laura Mercier Lip Pencil in True Red ($19).

A Search for the Longest Lasting Lip Color 9AM9AM: First Application
Stila
Clicking the applicator makes it hard to determine how much color is coming out from the brush. But since the stain doesn’t dry right away, if you mess up it’s fixable.

CoverGirl
The applicator is like a marker, which is great because you can be very precise. But precision is key, since the stain is very hard to get off your skin if you mess up.

Laura Mercier
The pencil makes it easy to be precise, but since it’s so matte, I need to add a swipe of Rosebud lip salve. The color is the best since you can pick out the correct shade at the makeup counter.

ttF Daily Fave: Stila Loves the Lakers Set

Stila Loves the Lakers SetI just stumbled upon this major steal from Stila: the Stila Loves the Lakers Set. To congratulate the 2009 NBA champions, the makeup company put together the tools you need to get the official Laker girl look (Stila is the beauty sponsor for the Los Angeles Laker girls). It includes their illuminating tinted moisturizer, convertible color, smudge pot and lash visor mascara. And it’s only $36! Just to give you an idea of how amazing this is, the moisturizer alone retails for $32. So even if you’re a disappointed Orlando Magic fan, this is one deal you don’t want to miss.

Line Your Lashes in Gold Like Lo Bosworth

Get Lo Bosworth's Golden Eyes at the MTV Movie AwardsI’m a big fan of gold eye makeup. It just goes so well with a summer tan. But I was surprised to hear that for the MTV Movie Awards, MAX Factor celebrity makeup artist, Jake Bailey, only used gold to line Lo Bosworth’s bottom lashes (pictured on top). I usually dust gold eyeshadow on my lids. I never thought of using it to line my eyes.

Bailey wanted to create a simple eye to go with the reality star’s bright lips. I followed Bailey’s advice and gave it a try myself (pictured on bottom). I didn’t have the same products as he used for Lo so I substituted Chanel eye shadow in Slate with Stila eyeshadow in Cloud to swipe on my lids. I then wet a brush and lined my lower Lashes with the gold from my Stila Gold Glow eyeshadow trio since I didn’t have MAX Factor MAXeye Liner in Gilt Complex. I topped it all off with two coats of mascara as recommended. I think this is going to be my new day eye. It’s subtle but the stripe of gold adds a glam factor, perfect for days when I have to go straight from work to an event.

Want the same bright pink lips as Lo Bosworth? Pucker up with MAX Factor Vivid Impact Lipcolor in Sweet Tart. Bailey also recommends Rose Rage and Ms. Terious for light, bright shades to keep your look fresh.
