Considering it’s going to be a long evening dishing about Oscars fashion and beauty I wanted to have a relaxing morning. So my mom and I took Bunny and Bear (my mom’s Golden) to meet my best friend Shauna and her pup, Simba, at Sunset Plaza for brunch. It was such a beautiful day I wanted to stay outside forever. But alas, I had to get my green tea latte from Starbucks and head to the office to get ready to critique the red carpet.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Golden Buttons
When I checked the weather this morning, it said a high of 60. Perfect, I thought. I can wear my yummy cashmere turtleneck. It has these gold buttons that run down the side of the neck, giving it a slight military feel.
But Mr. Weather.com was wrong and left me overheated on my walk to Ralphs during my lunch break. Today was the only day I was thankful that our office air conditioner is on overdrive.

I still didn’t feel that great when I woke up but I couldn’t show up to work in a sweatshirt and leggings. This cable knit sweater is as comfy as a house robe but doesn’t make me look like I rolled out of bed. And a pretty pair of heels always puts a smile on my face.

Happy 2010! I’ve been celebrating New Year’s in San Francisco so you’ll have to excuse the quality of these pics taken on my Blackberry. Today wasn’t the best weather so I brightened the gray skies with a cream cashmere turtleneck and white three-quarter sleeve coat. It matched perfectly with my delish bread bowl of clam chowder and the new pearl I found in an oyster at Pier 39.

In the 90s, I was obsessed with overalls. They are probably the most comfortable things in the world. A couple of years ago, I was given a tight pair of skinny overalls when the trend remerged. They weren’t as comfortable as loose Gap versions but I wore them a few times. But an overall gown? You could not pay me to wear one of those.
