ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Beaded Bliss
I wanted to end August with a bang… a beaded bang. I bought this embellished turtleneck at Shareen Vintage. It used to be a gown, but the brilliant Shareen turned it into a much more practical top with a gorgeous scalloped hem. The soft grays and blues work perfectly with dark denim, which makes the dressy top casual enough for a sushi dinner. But since it’s the last outfit in this month’s staples series, I decided I might as well sparkle. So I added beads on my wrist and feet.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Style Scout
I’ve worn this khaki dress many different ways. But today, I wanted to show how you can wear rhinestones to the office, so I used the casual poplin material to downplay the sparkles on my feet. I think of these chain shoes like jewelry. And it’s always fine to sparkle a little at work. Now I said a little. Any more jewelry would have been overload, so I used the chain print on this silk scarf instead of a necklace. Between the khaki and the way I tied the scarf, I felt a little girl scout on top. But the silver and bling guaranteed I didn’t look like I was going door to door with Thin Mints.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: French Soho
Tonight I went back to Soho House to celebrate French Connection’s Fall 2010 collection. I adore FC dresses. I bought this teal one on major sale in Miami. It’s a summery version of my beloved long-sleeve blue mini. I kept it simple on top with some matching gemstone earrings and used my sandals and gold manicure as jewelry.
All the celebs at the event were obviously decked out in French Connection, too: Lo Bosworth put her hair in a high bun and slipped on the Rebecca dress ($228), Jamie Lynn-Sigler showed off her curves in the Dani Crepe Dress ($128), Amanda Righetti went for color in the Spoonful of Sugar dress ($368) and Mario Lopez’s girlfriend Courtney Mazza accessorized her baby bump with the Iron Eagle jacket ($198).

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Blue Bardot
I’m so happy I tailored this dress. It used to hit below the knee. The length was okay since the dress is so fitted but the shorter hemline is much more flattering for a 5′3 frame. Tonight was our last night in Miami so our friend Chad took us to one of the best restaurants on the beach: Blue Door at the Delano. A blue dress was very appropriate.
Chain sandals add so much sparkle that not much accessorizing is needed. I borrowed my friend’s bracelet, added some stud earrings and called it a day. I took advantage of the humidity and did a voluminous Bridget Bardot-inspired half updo. My hair just kept getting bigger as we ended the night at Louis, which has my favorite big chair on South Beach.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Gucci Girl
I bought this dress at an E! wardrobe sale and I’ve been wanting to wear it forever. But it’s a little too nude for most occasions… except in Miami. To make it a more casual, I swept my hair into a trendy side braid and kept my makeup fairly neutral. It was nice wearing a flowing dress after a big dinner at Larios. It seems to be a recurring theme when I visit South Beach.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Electric Birthday
Tonight, I celebrated my friend Jess’ birthday. We went to Electric Karma restaurant, which has an adorable outdoor area where you can sit on cushions on the floor. I wanted to be comfortable so I threw on a basic tank and jeans. My sparkle sandals and jewelry made it fancy enough for night. Dinner was a blast (Amy Smart was eating right next to us) and then we went back home for a night of Sprinkles cupcakes and boardgames. Happy birthday Jess!
