After dying my hair dark brown, I found that I needed to wear more makeup than I did with lighter highlights. Since I’m usually rushed in the mornings, I figured a bright lip would be my best bet. I decided to test three different products in order to find the longest lasting lip color: Stila Cherry Crush Lip and CheekStain ($24), CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain in Plum Pout ($8.99) and Laura Mercier Lip Pencil in True Red ($19).
9AM: First Application
Stila
Clicking the applicator makes it hard to determine how much color is coming out from the brush. But since the stain doesn’t dry right away, if you mess up it’s fixable.
CoverGirl
The applicator is like a marker, which is great because you can be very precise. But precision is key, since the stain is very hard to get off your skin if you mess up.
Laura Mercier
The pencil makes it easy to be precise, but since it’s so matte, I need to add a swipe of Rosebud lip salve. The color is the best since you can pick out the correct shade at the makeup counter.

I was having a fat day this morning so I wanted to wear something that hid my stomach. I immediately went for this empire waist Alex + Trixie top I bought last winter. I guess my body has changed a bit over the months because the blouse was a little bigger than I remembered. I tried it on with every bra I own but unless I stood perfectly straight, each one peeked out underneath. Luckily, I just received a pack of Bristols 6 Stylin’ Tape last week to review. To hold up my top, I used two pieces to tape the fabric to my bra. I crossed my fingers and drove to work.
Thankfully it stayed in place all day—exposed lingerie is a big don’t for the office. I literally just got home and peeled off the tape and found no leftover sticky residue and more importantly, no damage to my silk top. I haven’t tested the tape on my skin yet but I’m sold regardless. Bristols 6 Stylin’ tape is only $10 for three sheets of pre-cut strips in varying widths. Plus, it comes in a sleek faux snakeskin envelope so nobody will know you’re carrying around a quick fix in your purse.
