Bright Pink
Bright colors are exciting. But when you keep seeing hot pink season after season, you start getting bored. Now, if it was neon pink, that would be a completely different story. I’m obsessed with neon. But the Barbie color is too Legally Blonde for me to wear all the time.

Bubblegum and cotton candy are delicious in moderation but how much sweetness can you take? I loved how Jason Wu contrasted his blush feather dress with bright green but the monochromatic pink ensembles were a little too much.

This morning, I was all disturbed by pink hair. Then I see this photo of a pink Bottlenose dolphin swimming in Louisiana. He’s adorable! But I still don’t condone the pink hair. The mammal has inspired me, however, to paint my nails with OPI’s Pink-ing Of You when I get home.

A couple of years ago, I had an intern show up for work with electric blue fringe peeking out under her jet-black hair. The Jordin Sparks look certainly isn’t my cup of tea, but my intern was in college—and an aspiring pop star.
But recently, I’ve been noticing many employees in high positions, mind you, with pink, red and even blue streaks. If you want colorful locks, clip some on outside the office to evoke your inner rock star. Forgive me if I sound narrow-minded. I just don’t think Starlite strands work in the corporate world.

Hot pink is huge for spring so I’m happy to see that it’s carrying into fall. I suggest buying a seasonless magenta top now in silk or chiffon that can carry you through the year.

Yellow, lavender, blue and green are some of the top colors for spring. But if you can only remember one color, THINK PINK. You’ll want to look for either a bright pink, like fuchsia and magenta or a neutral pink, like rose dust.
Though I love bright, I’m not a fan of how I look in hot pink, so I’ve gone the neutral route. At one of Bloomingdale’s sales, I picked up this romantic rose cami with beige lace overlay from one of my favorite designer, Nanette Lepore.
For winter, I wanted to play with contrast, so I tucked it into a black high-waist pencil skirt with a touch of sheen. But for spring, I plan on styling the top more casual, pairing it with denim and other neutrals. I actually bought this blazer on sale three years ago. I’ve made it current by cuffing up the sleeves to expose the striped lining. Just goes to show that classics, as I said before, are sound investments.
