Christian Siriano’s show at New York Fashion Week was killer. Seriously, amazing. You have to click through this entire gallery to see the spring collection. The hats were fabulously oversized, the nudes and blush silks were dreamy and the contrast of rich volcanic and cool oceanic prints was out of this world.
I’ve been twittering non-stop this week so make sure you follow me on @sydnesummer and @mystyle for updates from the tents!
And for tips and trends from the runway, check out the Fashion Week Newsflash gallery I’m doing on mystyle.com.
I didn’t make the show but I just read something very cool about Costello Tagliapietra’s spring collection. Jeffrey Costello took photos of the lake and sunset in Brooklyn, and then he and design partner Robert Tagliapietra worked with Air-Dye to print the digital artwork on fabric without using water. The result? Absolutely stunning, colorful, earth-friendly fashion.
Have you been following me on Twitter? I’m live-tweeting from the tents at New York Fashion week through Thursday!

Tomorrow night I’m attending Rachel Zoe’s fashion show for her jewelry line for QVC. Wanna come with? Well you can on your television at least. QVC is broadcasting live from fashion week. So as I’m checking out the stylist’s baubles, bags and faux fur vests you can actually buy them at surprisingly affordable prices. Tune in Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 8-11 PM. If you have any questions on what anything in particular looks like in person, feel free to send me an @reply on my Twitter page, @SydneSummer. Have fun!
By now I’m sure you’ve heard of Fashion’s Night Out, the style stimulus plan Vogue editrix Anna Wintour put together to get people around the world out in the store to shop. Well, there are 700 retailers participating in New York City alone! I’m extremely overwhelmend. Thankfully, some of my blogging pals like Madison Avenue Spy and Butterfly Diary have put together a best-of list to help out. Not on their list? Chanel. Chanel is giving people the chance to create customized Chanel bags at their 15 East Fifty-seventh Street location. How cool is that?! Anyone want to lend me a few thousand dollars?
Another show I’m excited about attending during New York Fashion week is Milly. I’ve always been a huge fan of her prints and rich colors and it looks like there’s more in store for spring. Here’s what designer Michelle Smith had to say of the Milly collection:
“My spring collection is inspired by intoxicating exotic colors, luxurious fabrics and rich textures translated into accessible city-chic shapes; offering women a channel of escape with fresh and sophisticated combinations in modern silhouettes.”
