Slashing
Edward Scissorhands was a fab movie but I would never let Johnny Depp’s character near my closet. And I wish designers didn’t invite him to their studios to slash everything in site.

Mint
Davidelfin was the second show I saw during fashion week. I think I Twittered that it made me crave mint chocolate chip ice cream. I love mint chocolate chip ice cream. Luckily, the pastel color looks good on skin tones whether you have creamy skin like the models at Cynthia Steffe or a fresh tan like the ones at Michael Kors.

I bought MICHAEL Michael Kors Berkley Sandal for full price months ago and they’re one of my most comfortable sandals I own. If you follow my ThinkThru Fashion Diary on Twitter you’ll see that I wear them all the time with just about everything. Right now all the colors are on sale as part of Nordstrom’s Fall Shoe Clearance. I have the black patent but the black stretch mesh look nice as well. I would just stay away from the leopard or silver. They look a little cheap. Click below to shop the sale.

Cooking and baking don’t come easily to me. That’s why I have to make up for my oven troubles with my decorating skills. I made these Fourth of July cupcakes last night for my Patriotic Potluck Party. I picked up Pilsbury Funfetti cake mix and frosting, red food coloring and blue cake decorating gel at the supermarket. Taking inspiration from Michael Kors‘ red, white and blue spring collection, I turned the cupcakes from average to so festive that people didn’t even notice they came from a box.

Taking inspiration from Cameron Diaz, I’ve style my own red, white and blue outfits for this Fourth of July weekend. And this time I added handbag options, per the request of reader pinktulip.
1. Night on the Town
I originally planned on spending July 4th in Miami so I planned this outfit for clubbing. The dress is actually a tunic in two sizes bigger than I normally wear. I was drawn to it because the tiered ruffles have so much movement.
Forever 21 strapless ruffle knit tunic, vintage navy belt, CC Skye thin buckle bracelet, Cole Haan embossed clutch, Steve Madden peep-toes

When I think All-American actress, Cameron Diaz instantly comes to mind. With her blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes, all she needs is a swipe of red lipstick to look patriotic. But Cam takes it one step further, whether she’s coordinating with the red carpet in Michael Kors polka dots and stripes or Oscar de la Renta florals and lace, modeling head-to-toe denim on the cover of Marie Claire or keeping it simple in jeans and a white button-down or tank. Whatever your plans are for this July 4th holiday weekend, you can take some style inspiration from this red, white and blue beauty.
