ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: CoverGirl Sunday
Today, CoverGirl invited a group of LA bloggers to the Byron & Tracey salon to watch Rashida Jones prep for the MTV Movie Awards. I adore the salon—it’s so incredibly bright and cheery—and like Rashida even more. She’s nice, smart and of course easy, breezy and beautiful.
CoverGirl’s celebrity makeup artist Molly R. Stern did a beauty demonstration on Rashida (you can get some of her tips on mystyle) and then it was our turn to get beautified. First stop was makeup with Aura Schwartz. I rarely play with bright colors so we decided to use the same electric green Molly used on Rashida. It almost acts as a bronze, with a slight green tint. We also put the green in the waterline to really make my eyes pop.
Next stop was Tomas, a hair stylist at Byron & Tracy. He said the trick to the sexy waves we’ve been seeing in the magazines is to curl the middle of the hair and leave the ends natural. He was a total doll, and after a massive amount of hairspray, my wish for volume was fulfilled.
It was the best Sunday I’ve had in a while. There’s nothing not to love about getting pampered while you sip mimosas while meeting new friends—Beauty Junkies Unite, Cara, Beauty Girl Musings—and caching up with old ones—Queen of the Quarter Life Crisis, Nadine Jolie.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diar: M·A·C Prêt-á-Papier
Tonight my good friends at PMK-BNC invited me to the debut of M·A·C Cosmetics’ summer collection: Prêt-á-Papier. The makeup was inspired by craft paper, which is a natural, basic canvas that can be turned into something beautiful. To illustrate the idea, models, including America’s Next Top Model winner Nicole Linkletter were outfitted in paper dresses, resembling a Project Runway challenge. My friend Jen and I wanted one of the dresses for ourselves. They even had zippers!
To get fully introduced to the new line, senior makeup artist Tiffany Johnson gave me a makeover with the neutral eyeshadows and soft blushes and glosses. The muted purple was perfect for my green eyes and even though I loved the coral lipstick I had to try Tiffany’s glitter lip glass. It was as if my lips were bedazzled with diamonds!
As the models crafted mini paper dolls, and the beautiful bartenders (a staple at M·A·C parties) passed out delicious cocktails, guest posed with life-size paper dress cutouts created by designers like Cynthia Rowley, Zandra Rhodes and Project Runway alumn Daniel Vosovic. It was a night full of fashion, fun and fresh makeup.

ttF Fashion Diary: Lichtenstein Pop
After seeing all the blue tights in G-Star’s Fall 2010 show—and how cool Liv Tyler looked in the bright color sitting front row—I decided I had to try the trend. But why wait for fall? Between the stripes and the primary colors, I felt just like a painting by one of my favorite artists, Roy Lichtenstein.
After work, I went to see live painting at a M.A.C. Pro event at the El Rey Theatre. Last time I attended one of these events, it was a cocktail party featuring body paint. Tonight, Oscar winning special effects makeup artist Rick Baker did a live demonstration of turning a normal face into a monster with M.A.C. Cosmetics’ professional line. He was so scary at the end! But genius. This guy has had an incredible career, doing makeup for Michael Jackson’s Thriller, both King Kongs, Batman Forever and Robert Downey Jr. in Tropic Thunder, just to name a few.
I could have worn what I wore to work, but to make my outfit more nighttime, I swapped my flats for a pair of gladiator heels and traded the red beads for the black pearl and gem necklace we used on the models over the weekend.

ttF Fashion Diary: Purple Pampering
Oscar weekend can be stressful but boy does it have its perks. One of them being there are many opportunities to get pampered. Today, I took my mother, who’s visiting for the weekend, to the Pre-Oscar Prep and Primp Party at the Argyle Salon & Spa to celebrate the new Oribe concept salon. Gaudy PR handled the event and the fab Avo Yermagyn (the male pictured below) set up hair and makeup for us. I got an amazing blowout by Joseph Chase then makeup by Sharon Gault aka Mama Makeup (the redhead) and Ashlee D (the Angelina Jolie look-a-like). Yes, I had two people working on me. It was pretty awesome. Plus, they used Youngblood, which is rapidly becoming one of my fave makeup brands.
As we got glammed up rainy night downstairs, Penelope Cruz was getting made up upstairs at the Sunset Tower Hotel, the same spot where every A-lister will be after the Oscars for Vanity Fair’s annual party.
On a side note, I just realized I must really like purple and turquoise together. This is the second time in just a couple of weeks that I’ve worn the color combo.

I was just discussing last week how much I hated Rihanna’s red eyeliner at the American Music Awards. Some of you may disagree but I thought it looked like dried blood leftover from an eyelift. Mila Kunis’ smokey crimson eyes back at the Emmys were much prettier—but the color was subtle.
I was hesitant about bold red eye makeup until a friend emailed me this photo of two adorable sisters rocking candy apple lids and a whole lotta leopard with their mom at the Original New Orleans Ladies, Kids & Men Buckjumpers traditional Second Line parade.

I have a new lip gloss obsession: Benefit benetint lip balm
($20).
I know I might be a little late to the game, considering this product has been out forever. But I recently received it in a gift bag and have not been able to stop applying it since!
It feels so incredibly smooth on the lips, thanks to a healing Vitamin E formula and it has SPF 15 to prevent further chapping (my lips have been so incredibly dry recently and the gloss is such a life saver). It has just enough color to add a natural brightness to your face but my fave part is the fragrance!
The rose petal scent smells just like a bouquet of fresh-cut roses and tastes like that yummy rose jam I used to put on scones when having tea in London. Delish!
