Random fact I learned this week: It wasn’t the girls of Sex and the City that started the Cosmopolitan craze. It was actually Madonna! Did anyone else know this? I did some more research on it and included the deets in an Ask Style column on How To Throw A Sex and the City Party on Mystyle.
But even if Carrie & Co weren’t responsible for making Cosmos a world wide phenomena, I’m still psyched to toast pink martinis with my girls tonight before attending a Sex and the City 2 screening in Santa Monica. In fact, I need to go figure out what to wear to channel my fave character: Charlotte York.

Lingerie
Exposed lingerie can be disastrous. The Madonna look needs to stay in the 80s. But when it’s subtle, lingerie-inspired looks are just dreamy. One of my favorite magazine covers this fall was Ashley Olsen on Marie Claire. Many of the looks at Alberta Ferretti had a similar feel. I could do without bloomers in public but bustiers are definitely right up there on my love list.

When most people hear Ferragamo, they think of fine Italian leather goods. But to Debi Mazar, Ferragamo is a powerful neighbor that can help her make a difference. Last month, a deadly Italian earthquake devastated the town of L’Aquila. When Debi, who is soon relocating to Italy with her husband, Gabriele Corcos, heard of the tragedy, she immediately called their neighbor in Fiescole, James Ferragamo (Salvatore’s grandson). They quickly collected Ferragamo purses worn and autographed by Debi’s A-list friends. Each reflects the actress’ personalities: Debi’s artsy one-of-a-kind tote, Jennifer Aniston’s practical eco-friendly hobo, Eva Longoria’s girly python clutch, Gwyneth Paltrow’s lady-like evening bag, Lucy Liu’s trendy white patent tote, Madonna’s bold python carryall, Demi Moore’s sleek clutch, Lily Tomlin’s classic nappa handbag, Dita von Teese’s glam frame bag and Marisa Tomei’s sophisticated satin clutch.
Tonight, Debi hosted an event at the Beverly Hills Ferragamo store to launch the auction. I got the pleasure of speaking with the Entourage actress, who was a total doll and truly does care about the cause. She called herself a mix of retro and Moderne in a dusty rose silk Ferragamo top and pants with black flowers holding up her shiny hair. Her friends were equally as stylish: Lisa Edelstein looking hotter than ever in an emerald jumpsuit, Patricia Arquette rocking fierce platforms, Melissa George successfully pulling off a pink leather dress and bright lips and Tiffani Thiessen looking adorable in a white vest pantsuit.
Bid on the purses through June 12 on eBay. Or, if like me, you can’t exactly afford star memorabilia, drool from afar and donate what you can to GlobalGiving. Then check out Debi and Gabrielle’s cooking blog, Under the Tuscan Gun, whip up some delish Polenta Pasticciata for under $10 and feast with your friends knowing that you helped out a great cause.
