Blinged Out Butts: Don’t Let Your Man Try This Trend at Home

bling-butts

During a recent trip to Miami, my friend and I started noticing an odd trend: blinged out butts… on men! Well, male mannequins at first. Every other store we passed in South Beach featured jeans with crystal designs on the back pockets. Window displays were one thing but then we saw a man wearing a pair at a cocktail party at Viscaya—with a matching studded jacket no less. It was hard not to grab the girl he was holding hands with and tell her to ditch her fashion disaster date ASAP!

I still have my Sevens with sparkling zigzags lining the backside. But I retired them in 2005. I wish the men in Miami, at least the straight ones, would do the same. (And sorry about the quality of the photo. I had to take it from far away because I couldn’t exactly say, “Sir, may I take a picture of your bum?”)

What do you think about spakly denim for men?

Earth Month Day 16: Desert Blue

desert-blue

I own more jeans than I care to mention. But I only have two pairs of skinny jeans that I adore: my Paige Blue Heights ($179) and my Desert Blue Bullhorns ($148). Desert Blue was founded by former model Miranda Carmona, who was inspired by the American West. The organic cotton jeans are durable and made with Italian bio-denim. The Bullhorns are part of their denim legging collection and are seriously the most comfortable jeans ever—I’m wearing them today, in fact. I have yet to try the other styles but I have my eye on the High Wind Dexters ($198). Everything is 30% off right now, plus free shipping, so it’s a good time to add to your denim collection.

Visit www.desertbluejeans.com to learn more about the line.

A Monochromatic Moment in Gray

monochromatic-gray

For a sleek, sophisticated look, try a monochromatic outfit. As long as you mix fabrics and textures,   it’s not the least bit boring. Recently, celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon and Dita von Teese have been stepping out in various shades of gray. Above, I’ve created an outfit that you can wear from day into night.

My favorite part of this look is the jacket. The belted waist balances out the voluminous sleeves. Chunky heels, statement necklaces, ruffles and snakeskin are all trendy for spring; the rose tint on the sunglasses add a subtle touch of color; and you can never go wrong with a neutral pair of gray jeans.
