Feathers
Last Halloween, I created a Woodstock costume with bags and bags of yellow feathers that I hot glue-gunned onto a skirt. After seeing the continuance of the plumage trend, I’m debating wearing that skirt when it’s not October 31st!

It’s no secret that Michelle Obama isn’t afraid to repeat outfits. StyleList pointed out that unlike any other first lady, Mrs. O even recycled her inauguration day outfit! The Nina Ricci cardigan she wore under that gorgeous Isabel Toldeo coat was seen again on St. Patrick’s Day and the green Jimmy Choo Glacier pumps have made numerous appearances. But Michelle’s all time favorite accessory seems to be her studded Azzedine Alaïa belt. Barack dubbed it her “Star Wars belt” and it’s traveled with the first couple from St. Paul to Prague, and everywhere in between. My favorite look is #2, when Michelle styled the belt over a vibrant Jason Wu dress and Michael Kors coat. Check back tomorrow to see how the first lady creates different looks with two of her other favorite waist cinchers.

Feathers have been trendy for quite some time now, so thankfully there are affordable options. But I’m excited for the new feather prints, like the peacock ones at Cynthia Steffe. I can get the look without worrying that my dog will attack my dress (I don’t know why, but Bunny is drawn to feathers. And if you have a cat, forget about it!)

Sheer is so much sexier than bare. The thin material means they can look, but can’t touch. And if you’re worried about something being too sheer, layer or try just a sheer sleeve like the amazing blazer at Doo. Ri.
