ttF Daily Fave: Pumpkin Carving

Jack-o-Lantern Display My friends just invited me over for some pumpkin carving and I must say I’m pretty impressed with what we came up with. Since I’m having a masquerade Halloween party this weekend, I went with a masked Robin, Jason and pirate jack-o-lantern. But my fave was the tri-skeleton gourd on the far right. How amazing did it turn out?! FearNet has some pretty cool ideas and stencils if you want to have a Twilight pumpkin carving party. ‘Causes everyone wants a glowing Edward in their living room, right?

ttF Daily Fave: Yellow Feathers

Ideas for Using Feathers to Create a Halloween Costume

Two years ago, I attended a Snoopy runway show at Bryant Park during Fashion Week. I fell in love with the outfit Project Runway’s Laura Bennett created using Woodstock as an inspiration. I instantly knew what I wanted to be for Halloween.

I bought a corset at a vintage shop and yellow fabric paint, glitter glue, a glue gun and bags of yellow feathers at Michaels. I painted the corset, outlined the boning with the glitter and glue gunned feather fuzz at the bust. For the skirt, I used an old cotton stretch mini that had three tiered layers and spent hours glue-gunning feathers one-by-one. It was worth it. I adored my costume.

The feathers came in handy that week. I glue-gunned them to cardboard to create wings for my dog, Bunny; I used them to make my friend’s daughter a last minute costume so she could enter a contest with me and Bunny in West Hollywood (we won!); and I glue-gunned them to bedazzle masks for my masquerade party.

And the yellow feathers keep flying: Just yesterday, I put them in my hair for an impromptu Pocahontas costume!

MAC Halloween Makeup Feature in the Los Angeles Times

A friend recently asked me to be a model for a MAC shoot that was creating different Halloween looks for The Los Angeles Times. I gave you guys a sneak preview last week and now the whole feature is up online. MAC senior makeup artist John Stapleton, who created my vampire look—as well as the aquatic look—is truly a genius. Enjoy!

And make sure you come back to ThinkThruFashion tomorrow for a behind-the-scenes look of the shoot.

ttF Daily Fave: Superleggera Carbon Fiber Heels

 Superleggera Carbon Fiber Heels

These aren’t your average car shoes. Modo illustrator Tim Cooper created these carbon fiber stilettos based on the design of the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. Of course, Cooper is British. They have the most fabulous quirky style across the pond.

It’s too bad the hot heels are just a concept. They’d be perfect with Trashy Lingerie’s Pink Racer romper ($42) for Halloween.
