ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Silk Pearls
My hair was an absolute mess when I woke up this morning. I usually throw it into a ponytail or braid but I really loved the braided updo Byron Williams did for Rashida Jones on Sunday. I braided a section of hair and pinned it to my head like a headband, and then repeated on the right side. I then created five small braids with the rest of my hair and twisted them into a bun with a hair tie. I used bobby pins to secure the loose ends. And it all took less than 10 minutes. You’ll definitley be seeing this hairdo more often.  And luckily, I had an awesome photographer to capture it. My new photos make me as happy as my gladiator Manolos!

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Tribal Brunch
I found out some disappointing news this morning so my friend met me for brunch to cheer me up. It was a gorgeous day so we walked to Café Primo on Sunset. Lesson learned: Check the weather to see if it’s windy out before wearing a full skirt. Both of us had a mini Marilyn Monroe moment walking up the hill. At least it made me laugh!

ttF Daily Fave: Dolce Vita Cajun High Heel Gladiator Sandals

picture-2Last month, a reader asked how to elongate her petite frame. I explained that nude shoes are the easiest solution. A peep-toe platform is the most flattering—and timeless—option but these Dolce Vita Cajun High Heel Gladiator Sandals ($138) are a trendy way to add height. The stacked sole makes them more comfortable, or at least as comfortable as a 4.25-inch heel can be. They remind me of a pair of Christian Louboutin sling backs I saw at Barneys the other week. Except they don’t have the obnoxious look-at-me red sole, and they’re almost one-tenth of the price. Plus, Shopbop.com is offering free shipping on all orders over $100 through July 31. If I hadn’t just bought two pairs of shoes recently, I would definitely add these to my cart.

An American Girl Wearing Aldo in Paris

aldo-sale

I haven’t been to Aldo for a while. I’m usually more of a Steve Madden girl. But I just got an email that Beyoncé wore Aldo gladiators ($75) while shopping at Balmain in Paris. It’s funny, I remember a picture of B wearing the Gryphon sequined mini skirt ($240) I was drooling over a few months ago with boots—but I guess she her feet started hurting and she changed into flats mid-shopping spree. Regardless, it made me click over to Aldo online and I discovered that they’re having a 4-day only 30% off sale on some fun items that fit in with the tribal chic trend I’m currently obsessing over.

Campodigiove suede baguette clutch ($50 $31.98), Riccione slouchy fabric tote ($45 $27.98), Stawicki faux snakeskin sandal ($50 $34.98), Fifirofi wood animal print bangles ($12 $9.98), Edel printed platform ($125 $87.48)
