Halloween Costume Inspiration From Fashion Week

Designers at Fashion Week Give Halloween Ideas

What should I be for Halloween? That’s  the question I’ve been hearing for the past week. If you’re like me you’ve already been thinking about what to wear this year. But if you’re costume clueless, here’s some inspiration straight off the runways of New York, Milan and Paris. Hit up your local vintage shop, dig through your closet, break out the glue gun and have fun!

Stripe Your Heels, Not Your Hands

stripes

This past weekend was full of stars in stripes—but there was not equality for all. I adored the DSQUARED2 Barber Shop open toe pumps Cameron Diaz wore to Nickelodeon’s 2009 Kids’ Choice Awards. I originally thought the heel had black and white stripes until I discovered they were actually inspired by a retro red and white barber pole, even cuter! Matchy-matchy is in for spring, and the red complimented Cam’s polka dot Michael Kors top and patent LAI clutch.

Then there was Fergie, who celebrated her 34th birthday at Liv Nightclub in the Fontainbleu hotel during Rock Fashion Week. It looks like she got a professional manicure with black nail polish. Then up in her room, decided to add silver stripes last to match her metallic mini. Even for Miami, it’s trash city. Lesson learned? Think before you paint!
