ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Accessory Swap Soiree
Last month I was in bed trying to fall asleep when I realized it I was halfway through the year-long ttF Fashion Staples Series. I wanted to celebrate so I thought about what would best illustrate the project. An accessory swap seemed like the perfect idea. I started the series to show how you can make the most use out of your wardrobe. And what better way to spice up staples you already have in your closet than with accessories?
At first, the event was going to be small. But anyone who know me knows that I like to think big. A small accessory swap turned into a 100 person poolside party at the Avalon, complete with a discounted Michael Stars pop-up shop, Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics makeovers, Blue Angel Vodka cocktails and a charity raffle, which raised over $2,000 for The Joyful Heart Foundation. I just want to say thank you to Michael Stars (especially Devon who was my lifesaver for the past three weeks!), my wonderful sponsors and my amazing friends Jamie, Jen, Michael, Jessica, Kinya, Patty, Adam, Ray and Amanda, who helped make the event a huge success.
As for my outfit? I had planned all along to wear a white French Connection sheath I bought in April while I was in Miami. The night before I tried it on and it was way too tight. I could have worn Spanx but I knew I’d get hot running around preparing for the event and making sure everyone had a good time. So I needed another option. Since it was my party, I didn’t want to fade in the background in black. And I really wanted to incorporate my fun shoe staples for June. I settled on a white wrap dress (flattering and comfortable). I actually bought it at a Neiman Marcus sale when I was 17. Just goes to show a wrap dress is a staple every woman should own because it never goes out of style. You can just modernize year after year with trendy accessories!

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Back to Front
Whenever I’m tired I get very creative with my outfits. Today, I wanted to wear my printed DVF top. But the back is way too low for the office (it drops down with beautiful chiffon draping). So I pulled an Angelina Jolie at SAGs and tried wearing it backwards. I liked the way the scarf mimicked the draping in front and I bet if I hadn’t revealed my trick, you would never have know that the back was actually the front.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Eclipse Premiere
Tonight was the highly anticipated Eclipse premiere. I was so excited when E! asked me to be the fashion expert for their live online stream. Before the carpet began, I caught up with my fab E! Online pals Marc Malkin and Taryn Ryder (and did a little posing in the sun with Edward).
Then it was showtime. Ben Lyons hosted the three-hour event and if you didn’t see it you totally missed out. He did such an incredible job! I chatted about fashion (Dakota Fanning was my fave), Ted Casablanca dished about Twilight gossip and Jason Kennedy jumped in for interviews. I had such a blast and am so happy I decided to do my own wardrobe. The black bandage style dress seemed very Twilight appropriate and the stretchy fabric made it easy to breathe and move around as the carpet got crowded. A dark, sparkly chain necklace brought a little glamorous mystery, and even though you couldn’t see my shoes on-air, stilettos always add confidence.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Emerald Sunset Marquis
This is one of my favorite tops I own. It’s such a rich green, the silk is so soft and the wrap style is incredibly flattering. I wear it two ways: tucked into a skirt, which usually looks like a dress, or over jeans. It dresses up the denim in a heartbeat. Now that I’ve worn the wedges three times, I’m pleased to say they’re quite comfortable—especially for being 5.5 inches! I had no problem walking to the Sunset Marquis with my friends Kinya and Patty, and then standing the majority of the night at Bar 1200.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: 110 Years of Fashion
Tonight, Reinaldo Irizarry of A-List International invited me as his VIP guest to to the opening reception of 110 Years of Fashion at the California Market Center. The lovely Chelsea Matthews (you can check out her blog here) put together the exhibition, which connected designers with bloggers to show the history of fashion. Reinaldo’s decade was the ’60s and he partnered with Ben Sherman, who lent him that fab jacket and tee. The installations, and the ridiculously awesome pink and silver quilted furniture in the VIP lounge, made me incredibly excited about my Swanky ’60s Birthday Soiree next weekend.
As for what I wore? That lace DVF is actually below the knee. But to make it less formal, I belted it and then bloused it to create a shorter, blouson dress.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Cirque du Style
I was meeting with some producers after work today about a possible reality show so I wanted to look professional, but still stylish with a small splash of sexy. My DvF dress is conservative but snug enough to show off my figure. And I glammed it up a bit by pinning a brooch to the black circus collar. Fingers crossed my look worked and I can tell you guys about the show soon!
