ttF Fashion Diary: Nautical BBQ

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Nautical BBQ
It’s technically summer. But in Los Angeles, it certainly doesn’t feel like it, especially when you’re in the hills. Since I get cold so easily, a cute summer dress was out of the question for my friend Lis’ late afternoon BBQ. Still wanting to look summery, I went for white jeans and stripes instead. I loved the look, I just had to be extra careful when I was eating the delicious Texas style burgers her boyfriend made!

ttF Fashion Diary: Mixing Prints

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Mixing Prints
Last time I wore mixed prints I kept in simple in black and white. So today I tried to be more adventurous. I usually wear this colorful dress with neutrals but decided to take it up a notch with a lavender cami and red platforms. As much as I love my red heels with red soles, I find them to be one of the most uncomfortable pair of heels I own. It’s a really shame when such pretty shoes cause so much pain.

Later in the day, my friend Jen wore the dress for a photo shoot I did for Style. Check out how to wear mixed prints, socks with sandals and more difficult spring trends on Mystyle.com over Memorial Day weekend!

ttF Daily Fave: Dolce Vita Cajun High Heel Gladiator Sandals

picture-2Last month, a reader asked how to elongate her petite frame. I explained that nude shoes are the easiest solution. A peep-toe platform is the most flattering—and timeless—option but these Dolce Vita Cajun High Heel Gladiator Sandals ($138) are a trendy way to add height. The stacked sole makes them more comfortable, or at least as comfortable as a 4.25-inch heel can be. They remind me of a pair of Christian Louboutin sling backs I saw at Barneys the other week. Except they don’t have the obnoxious look-at-me red sole, and they’re almost one-tenth of the price. Plus, Shopbop.com is offering free shipping on all orders over $100 through July 31. If I hadn’t just bought two pairs of shoes recently, I would definitely add these to my cart.
