Last night, I met the super cool jewelry designer behind Amelia Rae Designs. She creates unique pieces using chains, leather, feathers and gorgeous stones. I wore one of her necklaces last night and it was to-die-for (there will def be a pic coming up later this week). In the meantime, I wanted to show you some of her leather bracelets. They’re eons more affordable than the trendy CC Skye wrap bracelets worn by Vanessa Hudgens, Mary-Kate Olsen and Shenae Grimes. But they’re just as edgy and since each one is handmade, no two are alike! Personally, I’d rather have a one-of-a-kind item rather than the same piece MK wore.
Check out Nicole’s jewelry at her Amelia Rae Designs Etsy shop. I hear there are new designs coming soon!
I can’t believe stores are already having back-to-school specials. I feel like I haven’t even had a chance to enjoy my summer yet! But, I do like a good deal, so I wanted to share Linea Pelle’s special offer: $100 off any $500 purchase. That means I can get Vanessa Hudgens’ Linea Pelle Women’s Braided Waist Belt with Overlay ($187.50), this rocker chic Linea Pelle Dylan Small Speedy with Shoulder Strap ($375 $281.25) and a pack of three Linea Pelle Skinny and Shiny Dome Studded Bracelets ($65) for $433.75 instead of $533.75. Agate is a variety of quartz that has been used for centuries as power stone, one that has calming and healing properties. But when designer Frida Giannini used the gemstone to accessorize the Gucci Spring 2009 runway (pictured in the center) it became an instant fashion trend. There are a plethora of agate options available now, from bedazzled bracelets to simple pendants that you can thread using your own chain or leather cord. Luckily, the crystal isn’t too expensive, so you don’t need to spend a fortune to jump on this jewelry trend.

If you’ve ever opened up a celebrity weekly, you’ve probably seen Alex and Ani bangles on the wrists of Anne Hathaway, Miley Cyrus, Jessica Simpson and America Ferrera, to name a few. The celeb-coveted line was created by Carolyn Rafaelian, who grew up in a family of jewelers and named her company after her two daughters. She uses domestic recycled metals and nothing is thrown away or wasted. The bracelets are a little pricy but these are pieces both you and your daughter can wear, thanks to an expandable design concept that guarantees almost every body type the perfect fit. Alex and Ani also has unique earrings, necklaces, rings and hair accessories.

From New York to Paris, designers accessorized their models with stacks of bangles. The bracelets are much chunkier than last year’s trend. Chloe Sevigny showed off Louis Vuitton’s tribal chic bangles over New Year’s, leading me to find inexpensive options to get her look. But I still haven’t had a chance to go to Forever 21. So, last night I decided to try to make due with what is already in my jewelry chest.
I discovered bracelets I haven’t worn for years! I’m embarrassed to say it, but sometimes you have to be told something is en vogue to want to wear it again. I was specifically inspired by the way Marc Jacobs mixed ethnic pieces with decadent gold for the Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton runway.
After about 30 minutes of trying different combinations, this what I cam up with: (Side note: You might not want to spend as long as I did trying on bracelets. It took two hours for the red to go away on my wrists!)
Oh, and my dog, Bunny, liked playing with the bangles too!

On me:
I used a combination of costume jewelry from lia sophia, inexpensive accessories from So Good jewelry and bracelets I picked up when travelling to London, Florence and Costa Rica.
