ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Chain Reaction
Tonight I attended Traver Rains’ The Ranch LA Exhibit presented by Gaudy PR. Traver, who is the co-designer of Heatherette with Richie Rich, was debuting a new line of t-shirts and showing his impressive photography skills. One side of the room featured his Montana series of models is stunning clothing shot in his home state (Traver’s brother even handmade the remarkable wood frames.)
My outfit ended up matching the other side of the room, filled with more provocative photographs of naked cowboys and a sexed up Aubrey O’Day.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Sheer Art
Tonight was girl’s night out. First stop was the Young Collectors Night at Minotti Los Angeles, hosted by LA Art Show and Minotti. I haven’t had the guts to try out the lingerie trend yet but I figured since it was an art party I could be a little riskier than normal.
I felt naked when I walked into the party, but nobody seemed to notice—until I took a picture. The shirt photographs ten times more sheer than it is in real life. My friend looked at her camera and exclaimed, “Wow, Sydne your shirt is see-through!”As if I wasn’t self conscious enough.
Luckily, our second stop was Crown Bar, where it was so dark that I completely forgot my bra was showing.

I have a bunch of books on artists I love, but none feature the painter as a little figurine. The Andy Warhol inspiration box ($16.95) includes a hand-painted statue and display stand, which I so want for my desk. The booklet also includes colorful Warhol stickers and a bio on the artist. It’s a really cute gift for any pop art lover.

Stewart + Brown is a Los Angeles-based brand founded by partners Karen Stewart and Howard Brown. Both are trained artists, so design holds high importance—as does the environment: In addition to using green fabrics, Stewart + Brown donates a portion of sales to non-profit, non-governmental environmental and social welfare organizations.
The girlie dresses are my favorite. The ruffles, crochet, lace and embroidery are ideal for a garden party or a relaxing afternoon at a swanky pool. The coolest part is you can see the original sketches for the clothes on the website. There’s nothing better than viewing art while shopping.

Perhaps it’s because I paint in my spare time, but I adore all the artistic prints that designers have been showing whether it’s watercolor, graphic or even splattered.
