ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Jalepeño Happy Hour
For my mom’s last night we met my friends Michael and Jess at happy hour at Boracho. The Mexican restaurant used to have happy hour till 7, but it’s sadly only till 6. It’s probably best, considering if I had any more jalepeno margaritas I might have fallen in my 5.8-inch heels.
I still can’t get over how comfortable the shoes are. I wore them for nearly 12 hours, walked up and down and a large hill and I wasn’t in unbearable pain when I got home. Jessica Simpson may get crap about her fashion choices sometimes but the girl sure knows how to design shoes!
I turned my dress into a top today by layering it under a skirt American Apparel sent me. Tribal necklaces made the metallic stripes of the dress work with the wood platforms.
Jessica Simpson Dany platforms, Nicole Miller dress, American Apparel Full Woven skirt, Wet Seal belt, grandmother’s necklace and a wooden necklace I bought at a London flea market

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Olive Peach
This weekend, my mom’s visiting. So we’re having major girl time. Today was haircuts at Juan Juan (I’ve been seeing owner Sean J. since I was 16) then a little shopping at Century City. It’s finally warm in Los Angeles, so I wore this sheer top American Apparel sent me. I never would have picked it out myself, but it’s so incredibly comfortable and the lightweight material looks even better when it gets crinkled. How rare is that?! I originally paired it with denim cutoffs but my mother hates the ripped short looks. So I swapped the jeans for olive and I actually prefer the color combo. It’s softer and more sophisticated. Thanks mom.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Boys Club
I’ve always been a girlie-girl. I love feminine ruffles, tulle and lace. But when American Apparel sent me these trousers, I immediately saw them paired with a vest. Sometimes, it’s fun to step outside your comfort zone. Now I said step, not leap. I had the pants cropped so I could wear heels (oxford flats just aren’t flattering when you’re 5′3 in pleated pants). And I kept my tank fitted to show I still had some curves.
My coworker, Brett, said it was his favorite look I’ve ever worn! I wouldn’t necessarily go that far but sometimes it’s fun to play with the boys.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Seersucker Brunch
The other week, a few of my co-workers did seersucker Wednesday. One wore a striped skirt, another wore a button-down and another wore a baby blue and white bow tie. I was sad I wasn’t able to participate, so when I was shopping in Miami I picked up these shorts. From afar, they look more like a skirt and they’re so incredibly comfortable. I kept it basic for brunch with my friend and our pups at Cuvée with a white tee and tan sandals. Of course, the shorts are too short to wear to the office but at least I officially have seersucker in my closet.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Just Call Me Muffy
When American Apparel sent me a preview package including these khaki shorts, my friend said, “Hello 90s.” Yes, the bottoms are very Class of 1995. But khaki is super on trend for spring and my friend added, “I’m sure you can make them work.” So I did.
I went the preppy route with a button-down and cardigan. The shorts were the perfect length: they showed off enough leg to elongate the body but weren’t too short to wear wedges. During the photo shoot, Jen and Brett said I should try tying the sweater around my shoulders. But that was a little too Muffy does lunch at the country club for me.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Ron Robinson at Mondrian
My Karen Millen colorblock skirt reminds me of a Mondrian painting. So I just had to wear it to the launch of Ron Robinson’s pop-up shop at the Mondrian hotel in West Hollywood. If you’re not familiar with Ron Robinson, he’s the man behind Apothia and Fred Segal. So of course, there were plenty of luxe goodies in his boutique from blinged out Apothia candles and Missoni towels to gemstone wine corks and Stephen Webster jewelry.
I took my skirt from day to night by slipping into heels and swapping the cardi for a mesh button-up—this time I layered a cami underneath instead of exposing my lingerie. My friend Kinya and I were in heaven with the hors d’ouevres from Asia de Cuba (their tuna tartare is to die for) and then we kissed boys at the makeup table. Well, kinda. Keisha Whitaker named her Kissable Couture lip glosses after her kiss-es. I puckered up with Johnny. He smelled delicious.
