ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Velvet Drama
I’ve been going to so many shows that even the thought of a night out is exhausting. But I promised my New York bestie at least one girl’s night. We were going to dinner first so wearing second skin velvet wasn’t the brightest choice but I figured at least it would keep me from over indulging. It ended up not mattering. Long story short, there was the drama at the restaurant and we ended eating at some less fancy joint in Times Square then ditching the clubs for girl’s talk in our pajamas. It’s too bad, too. I really liked my outfit and thought my brooch with bracelets combo was pretty clever. C’est la vie.

ttF Fashion Staples Series: Bye Bye January!
I cannot believe January is over. The month flew by! For my final look with January’s staples, I used J. Crew’s embellished cardigan to add sparkle to a basic LBD. I know I said I would incorporate at least one fashion staple everyday and Saturday has already been covered. But my girlfriends and I were planning on going to Ne-Yo’s Grammys midnight brunch. And 12am is technically Sunday.

The scene at the party was actually awful so we ended up at Bar Marmont—and I’ve spent the rest of the day in my pajamas. Now it’s time to put all the looks together and see how many times I wore each of the 6 staples. Stay tuned…

Tonight was girl’s night out. First stop was the Young Collectors Night at Minotti Los Angeles, hosted by LA Art Show and Minotti. I haven’t had the guts to try out the lingerie trend yet but I figured since it was an art party I could be a little riskier than normal.

I felt naked when I walked into the party, but nobody seemed to notice—until I took a picture. The shirt photographs ten times more sheer than it is in real life. My friend looked at her camera and exclaimed, “Wow, Sydne your shirt is see-through!”As if I wasn’t self conscious enough.

Luckily, our second stop was Crown Bar, where it was so dark that I completely forgot my bra was showing.

ttF Daily Fave: Dakota Fanning, Iman and American Apparel Sesame Street Tees

I know I’m a little late in wishing Sesame Street a Happy 40th Anniversary, but you have to excuse me. I was spending the past six days jumping in the fall leaves in Boston Commons (LA isn’t exactly known for its change of seasons). But now that I’m back I have a lot of catching up to do.

Like, a) Dakota Fanning looks Stuh-Ning in Teen Vogue’s December issue. With a face like that and her incredible talent, she’s bound to be the next Meryl Streep.

b) Iman wore my absolute favorite dress from Jason Wu’s spring collection. I’ve never seen a prettier high fashion flamingo.

And c) Sesame Street celebrated its 40th Anniversary. American Apparel teamed up with Mighty Fine and designed these adorable unisex tees ($25) in commemoration. I’m a Cookie Monster girl myself, but the Big Bird one is pretty cute, too.

I know it’s cold on the east coast, and I certainly feel for my friends in Philly, Boston and New York. But in Los Angeles, it is HOT. So I’ve gone back into my summer wardrobe to look for clothing that doesn’t seem totally out of place for fall. American Apparel’s Poplin Cross-Front Dress ($36) doesn’t scream July but the thin material keeps me cool. When I wore Look #1, I used Bristol 6’s styling tape to secure the front so I didn’t have to worry about my bra showing at the office.
