I can’t believe fashion week is less than a month away. To celebrate, I’m picking out one item from my Shop It To Me Sale Spot. I’m just having trouble deciding between this BCBGMAXAZRIA BCBGMAXAZRIA Runway Crossover Dress with Shoulder Pads
($358 $250.60) or this ADAM Military Style Trench Coat
($345 $241.50).
I remember seeing the dress on the runway last fashion week. It was one of my favorite from the shows. But as much as I love it, the bright color is incredibly memorable. The silky coat, on the other hand, can be worn with so many different types of outfits. This is one of the rare shopping occasions I think I’m going to be practical.

Feathers
Last Halloween, I created a Woodstock costume with bags and bags of yellow feathers that I hot glue-gunned onto a skirt. After seeing the continuance of the plumage trend, I’m debating wearing that skirt when it’s not October 31st!

Soft Blue
Cobalt and black is the color combo du jour on the red carpet but on the spring runways things were lightening up. I, for one, am thrilled. I already have the perfect dress that I still have yet to wear.

White Button-Down Shirts
Perhaps it’s the Gap effect. You know, how the All-American brand had designers re-work the classic white button-down? Well it looks like other designers want to participate in Gap Design Editions. My favorite version of the white button-down actually wasn’t on the runway. It was on a girl sitting near me at Hervé Léger’s show who paired her bandage skirt with an oversized white button-down and studded booties. It was the perfect mix of edgy, classic and sexy.

Sheer Yoke Dresses
I really need to go to American Apparel and buy one of their Sweetheart Two-Toned Mini Dresses ($46). I was resisting for a while after seeing so many girls in Los Angeles pairing them with booties but the trend isn’t going anywhere and I’m obsessed with the cobalt/navy version. Maybe I can convince my Forever21Report partner to take a trip with me down to American Apparel’s warehouse to see if I can get the dress with a discount.

Horizontal Stripes
I have a small chest, so I’m a huge fan of anything that augments it that doesn’t require plastic surgery. Horizontal stripes do the trick, and for spring they came in every color and size. Nanette Lepore’s were my favorite. They were bright and paired with florals. I also liked the way Cynthia Steffe made metallics sporty by layering shiny linen with striped tees and tanks.
