Who would ever have thought that I’d be having a Who Wore It Better? with Amy Poehler and my former neighbor Kathy Griffin?! I never knew I had anything in common with comediennes but I guess we all love Karen Millen
Amy wore the satin dress back in June at the 2009 Gracie Awards Gala and Kathy wore a blue version a few days later for a Late Show appearance. I didn’t have a dressy enough event to wear the dress to until last night.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Jumpsuiting Around
Today was a fashion challenge. I needed to create an outfit with February’s fashion staples that could take me from the office, to a Laker game and then to a birthday cocktail party. Luckily, I had epiphany upon remembering how I styled my jumpsuit in an Ask ThinkThru post on what to wear from work to an event.
For work, I played with color, pairing a turquoise necklace with my purple cardi. When it was time for the game, I threw the necklace in my purse and added purple and gold cuffs to watch the Lakers beat Philadelphia. After leaving Staples center, I added some sparkle with oversize hoops and left the cardigan in the car to sex it up a bit for a party in the hills. And my trusty Michael Kors Berkley sandals took me from 10am to 1am. Of course my feet were thrilled to slip into EMUs when I got home to walk Bunny but they didn’t even start hurting until the 10th hour. Pretty amazing for a 4-inch heel, huh? I’ve recommended these sandals before and my friends have thanked me numerous times. They’re incredibly comfortable—and now they’re on sale, too.
Forever 21 jumpsuit and cardigan, Bebe belt, Karl Lagerfeld sunglasses, Michael Kors Berkley sandals, grandmother’s turquoise necklace, lia sophia enamel cuff and crystal earrings, Lauren Merkin clutch, Antidote Skincare faux tan
Fashion Staples Used: Thick Waist Belt
Get the look…
*Note: I only recommend the Kors sandals in black patent or fabric. I just steered a reader away from gunmetal. The shoe doesn’t look nearly as nice in metallic or animal print.

I got this skirt during a 25% off shopping party at PH8. Originally, I planned on wearing the skirt at fashion week with the gray dress worn as a top, platform booties and a sparkly statement necklace. The snow changed my outfit. But even though my layered look is different than AnnaLynne McCord’s the night before, and the way the skirt was styled in the PH8 lookbook, I find it funny how we all stuck to a black, gray and pink color palette. Next time I wear the skirt I’m going to try to change it up a bit.

Now it’s time to send January’s staples off to the dry cleaners and get ready for a new month. Check back tomorrow night to see what fashion staples are in store for February.

Back in October, I showed six different ways to wear Charley 5.0 Denim Leggings
($165). Since then, I’ve worn the jeans too many times to count. But the tie-dye pair I received at a gifting suite sat quietly in my closet. I finally tried the pants during a girl’s weekend in Las Vegas. I actually felt semi-cute but they have not seen the light of day since. Unlike Ciara, I wore my Charley 5.0 Skinny Tie Dye Denim Leggings
($159) during the day with Steve Madden flats, which I think works much better to downplay the loud print. This week, mystyle gave Rihanna a Fashion DUI for pairing hers with the bright pink Givenchy sandals currently on sale at Neimans. The shoes are killer—just not with those jeans.

There are few styles that work on every body type. But L’Wren Scott nailed it with this white dress. The designer is known for her impeccably fitting designs and this sweetheart strapless is just a prime example.
I love how each celebrity put her own spin on the dress. Nicole Kidman kept it classic, Nicole Richie added a boho vibe with House of Harlow bangles and Jennifer Lopez upped the sex factor with Christian Louboutin Differa platforms. The only one who fell a little flat was Jennifer Love Hewitt. At just 5′2, she needed to shorten the hemline so it hit just below the knee. It’s one of the drawbacks of not having a 5′10 statuesque frame like Ms. Kidman. You have to have a tailor on speed dial.
