ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: Velvet Drama
I’ve been going to so many shows that even the thought of a night out is exhausting. But I promised my New York bestie at least one girl’s night. We were going to dinner first so wearing second skin velvet wasn’t the brightest choice but I figured at least it would keep me from over indulging. It ended up not mattering. Long story short, there was the drama at the restaurant and we ended eating at some less fancy joint in Times Square then ditching the clubs for girl’s talk in our pajamas. It’s too bad, too. I really liked my outfit and thought my brooch with bracelets combo was pretty clever. C’est la vie.

I was just blogging earlier this week about how in love I am with Alexander McQueen’s spring collection. I arrive to New York this morning, excited to see what he and all the other designers have in store for fall and hear about his tragic passing. Over at mystyle I’ve paid tribute to the designer with a gallery of some of his most memorable designs worn on the red carpet.
It is so sad to have such talent pass away so soon.

New York Fashion Week begins today, which means my posts might be a little delayed. So follow me on Twitter at @sydnesummer and @mystyle for live tweeting from the tents.
And while you’re waiting for trend reports from this fashion week, check out all the styles that are in fashion in the upcoming months in ThinkThruFashion’s Spring 2010 coverage.

ttF Fashion Staples Series Diary: All Buttoned Up
Black pants and a white button-up often has the tendency to make you look like a waiter. But puff sleeves and a brooch—and a pop of orange at the wrist—take the outfit of catering territory.

This past weekend, Lady Gaga got into the holiday spirit with a reindeer hat, her trademark fishnets and a see-through rubber coat-dress to have drinks at London’s Mayfair Hotel.
Strange? Yes. Shocking? No.
Much stranger are the necklaces at Miller Park Zoo’s ZOOtique gift shop. They’re made with reindeer dung!
Each “Gem,” as the Bloomington, Illinois zoo refers to the droppings, is dehydrated, sanitized and painted—and it’s developed with a tale from retired zoo superintendent John Tobias. It’s a pretty cute story:
John’s grandmother use to gather her grandchildren and take them outside on Christmas Eve to scatter homemade chocolate chips. She would tell the children that the chips would attract Santa and his reindeer to their home, because the reindeer would know that other reindeer had already visited and left droppings…
I just don’t know how I feel about wearing feces around my neck.
I much prefer wearing a beaded reindeer on my chest. The J. Crew reindeer tee is sold out online, but I saw a bunch when I was at the San Diego store last weekend. Now I regret not buying one.
