When I think All-American actress, Cameron Diaz instantly comes to mind. With her blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes, all she needs is a swipe of red lipstick to look patriotic. But Cam takes it one step further, whether she’s coordinating with the red carpet in Michael Kors polka dots and stripes or Oscar de la Renta florals and lace, modeling head-to-toe denim on the cover of Marie Claire or keeping it simple in jeans and a white button-down or tank. Whatever your plans are for this July 4th holiday weekend, you can take some style inspiration from this red, white and blue beauty.

I’m not usually a fan of Blake Lively’s fashion choices. They’re often too provocative for my taste. But I love the Michael Kors strapless and nude pumps the Gossip Girl star wore to tonight’s CFDA Fashion Awards. Neon and nude is currently one of my favorite color combos and her outfit reminds me of when I decided to bare more than usual while vacationing in Miami. It was fun dressing like Serena van der Woodsen instead of Blair Waldorf for a night. Still, I prefer to wear American Apparel’s fluorescent dress (which also comes in neon pink) as a skirt, like I happened to do today. Maybe if the strapless was a thicker material—or had more material!—I’d be more comfortable wearing it as a dress.
Just out of curiosity, I looked for a few neon options online and stumbled upon this one-shoulder dress from Forever 21. It’s not neon and nude, but hot pink and black is an equally cool look. I’m debating ordering it. Then there’s Wet Seal’s colorblock dress, which is cute as well—and only $18.50. Or I could just go with Topshop’s neon pink knickers. So kidding! Who on earth would pay $50 to look like Roller Girl?

I’m a big fan of gold eye makeup. It just goes so well with a summer tan. But I was surprised to hear that for the MTV Movie Awards, MAX Factor celebrity makeup artist, Jake Bailey, only used gold to line Lo Bosworth’s bottom lashes (pictured on top). I usually dust gold eyeshadow on my lids. I never thought of using it to line my eyes.
Bailey wanted to create a simple eye to go with the reality star’s bright lips. I followed Bailey’s advice and gave it a try myself (pictured on bottom). I didn’t have the same products as he used for Lo so I substituted Chanel eye shadow in Slate with Stila eyeshadow in Cloud to swipe on my lids. I then wet a brush and lined my lower Lashes with the gold from my Stila Gold Glow eyeshadow trio since I didn’t have MAX Factor MAXeye Liner in Gilt Complex. I topped it all off with two coats of mascara as recommended. I think this is going to be my new day eye. It’s subtle but the stripe of gold adds a glam factor, perfect for days when I have to go straight from work to an event.
Want the same bright pink lips as Lo Bosworth? Pucker up with MAX Factor Vivid Impact Lipcolor in Sweet Tart. Bailey also recommends Rose Rage and Ms. Terious for light, bright shades to keep your look fresh.

I love Katy Perry. Unlike Lady GaGa who often reminds me of a second rate Madonna with all that showy leather, Katy Perry thinks through her quirky and creative costumes. Take this sushi ensemble she wore over the weekend to perform at Japan’s MTV Video Music Awards. Not only did Katy splatter sparkly sushi across her body, she even put sashimi and California rolls on her fingers! I just hope she’s not a nail biter.

While most reporters will be dishing about gossip and fashion, Amber is going to rate which stars have the most glam gams on the carpet. My money is on Vanessa Hudgens (nominated for “Best Kiss” with Zac Efron in High School Musical 3: Senior Year), Kate Hudson and Anne Hathway (nominated for “Best Fight” in Bride Wars), Miley Cyrus (nominated for “Breakthrough Performance” in Hannah Montana: The Movie) and Kate Winselt (nominated for “Best Female Perfomance” in The Reader). I haven’t been to Aldo for a while. I’m usually more of a Steve Madden girl. But I just got an email that Beyoncé wore Aldo gladiators ($75) while shopping at Balmain in Paris. It’s funny, I remember a picture of B wearing the Gryphon sequined mini skirt ($240) I was drooling over a few months ago with boots—but I guess she her feet started hurting and she changed into flats mid-shopping spree. Regardless, it made me click over to Aldo online and I discovered that they’re having a 4-day only 30% off sale on some fun items that fit in with the tribal chic trend I’m currently obsessing over.
Campodigiove suede baguette clutch ($50 $31.98), Riccione slouchy fabric tote ($45 $27.98), Stawicki faux snakeskin sandal ($50 $34.98), Fifirofi wood animal print bangles ($12 $9.98), Edel printed platform ($125 $87.48)
